PACE Center for Girls is a nonresidential, gender-specific program for girls ages 12-17, who are experiencing difficulty or conflict in school and at home. PACE’s purpose is to intervene and prevent high school drop-outs, juvenile delinquency, drug and alcohol addiction and welfare dependency. PACE promotes and enables these young women to complete their education, build self-esteem, and develop personal, social and family relationship skills. Building on this foundation, the students become productive citizens through responsible decision making.
There is no charge for students to attend PACE Center for Girls.
"I realized I was going down the wrong path," said Lamonteria. "And I didn't want to end up like others." When she came to PACE, Lamonteria said she was shy and anti-social. "When I opened up, things started to become clearer," Lamonteria said. "PACE has helped me a lot, not only with my credits but with hope and faith. It showed me that anything is possible. It showed me that I'm somebody and that I can be loved."
In her introductory remarks, Jones said Southwick is someone who leads with her head and with her heart.
