Xomba donates $10,000 to PACE Center for Girls

Dec 08, 2010 – As part of its community outreach efforts, online writing community Xomba.com is giving back to the city it calls home. Though international in scope, Xomba is pleased to support local charitable organizations, and this year, Xomba has chosen PACE Center for Girls as its beneficiary.

This holiday season, Xomba is donating $10,000 to the Jacksonville-based organization that provides intervention, prevention and diversion services to girls and young women throughout Florida. Heralded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and other national organizations as an invaluable resource for preventing young women from entering the juvenile justice system, improving success in school and keeping them on the path to self-sufficiency, PACE boasts an impressive record.

Facing many challenges -- such as overcoming failing grades and abuse -- the girls at PACE are afforded counseling, training and education, and social services in a holistic and gender-responsive environment. An amazing 95 % of girls improved academically while at PACE (79 % by a full grade level). Nearly 90 % remained uninvolved with the criminal justice system a full five years after leaving PACE.

It is with a great sense of pride that Xomba presents this donation to PACE in hopes that it will help them continue to serve girls and young women in Jacksonville and throughout Florida. And we congratulate them on 25 years of doing good work -- work that, in the big picture, benefits us all.
