PACE Center for Girls Broward provides academics, counseling, life skills training, career and college preparation and community service projects for middle and high school girls.

A girl can be referred to PACE by parents, school counselors, social services professionals, doctors, juvenile judges or themselves (self-referral). 

If you know a girls who is... 

  • Is experiencing academic underachievement
  • Has struggled with social skills and peer groups
  • Has difficulty with middle-high school transition
  • Has been a victim of abuse or neglect
  • Has battled health problems that have her behind in school
  • Has a history of truancy
  • Would benefit from small classes and having a counselor

The girl must be between the ages of 12 to 17 years old, reside in Broward County and present 3 or more risk factors.  Consideration to be accepted into PACE begins by making an appointment to meet an intake counselor.

Examples of risk factors include:

  • victimization by emotional or sexual abuse
  • health risks such as teen pregnancy and risky physical behaviors
  • incarceration of parent or sibling
  • serious illness or death of family member
  • runaway behavior
  • academic underachievement or truancy and school suspension.
