More Than $175,000 Raised at PACE Jacksonville's Annual Fundraising Luncheon! 

 

The 8th Annual Portraits of PACE Fundraising Luncheon held at the UNF University Center on March 23rd was a tremendous success! The Healy Foundation provided a generous Leadership Gift of $50,000. Eleven new members joined the Believing in Girls Society and several current members of the Society also extended their financial commitments. During the luncheon, a very touching program highlighted girls in our community who have overcome obstacles that have prevented them from successfully completing school, finding employment and going to college. A video told the personal story of three different girls, all of whom are at different stages in their journeys. Two of the girls in the video, Narrizsa and Kaylen, also spoke to the audience. Kaylen described how her destructive home life led her to move in with her supportive aunt in Jacksonville, and eventually turned things around with the help of PACE. Narrizsa told us how a history of abuse from her family members kept her from doing well in school and learning the basic necessary skills to lead a healthy, successful life. Narrisza came to PACE at the age of 16 and was not able to read. Through the persistence of her counselor and teachers at PACE, today at 21 years old, she is enrolled in college and continues to find help and support at PACE.

The Portraits of PACE event is our only fundraiser and depends on volunteer Ambassadors to connect potential guests to PACE. Ambassadors work year-round, helping others learn about the mission of PACE. We are already planning for next year's luncheon and need Ambassadors. Friends for PACE is comprised of a group of dedicated individuals who have expressed an interest in becoming more involved with PACE and will support and promote its program in Jacksonville.  The primary functions of this group are volunteering for activities at the Center to interact with the girls, sponsoring fundraising events such as our Birdies for Charity event and Portraits of PACE Luncheon, and advocacy.  The group meets a few times a year to discuss projects and plan events.  If you are interested in becoming a member of Friends for PACE, please contact Janie Smalley, Development Director, at (904) 421-3390 or This email address is being protected from spambots. We need individuals who can help introduce others to PACE who will connect with our mission and support our program in various ways. Is that something you or someone you know may be able to help with? Here are the criteria:

  • Attend a Portraits of PACE session (See dates below)
  • Participate in an ambassador training session (multiple dates)
  • Have at least 10-15 guests attend a Portraits of PACE (POP) session to learn about the PACE mission. Your guests can schedule directly with PACE or through you. They can attend different tours or the same one. We can even arrange a  "POP in a Box" where we conduct a Portraits of PACE session off-site at a business, home or other location.

Optional After having guests tour PACE, ambassadors then have the choice to serve as a Table Captain at our Annual Fundraising Event to complete the duties below:

  • Host a table at our one and only fundraising event: The "Portraits of PACE" luncheon (March 23th, 2011) Around 15 must be invited to ensure at least 9 guests (who have previously attended a PACE tour) will be present. The luncheon will be at the UNF University Center.
  • Complete all tasks associated with hosting the table: greet guests; distribute, collect and turn in pledge forms; thank your guests for coming that day and follow-up with them later, etc.
