Ocala, FL (September 1, 2011) – The original Uniform Project began with one woman in New York in 2009 as a fundraiser for children in India. Her creative endeavor inspired similar uniform projects around the world. This one, Uniform Project Ocala, has the goal of raising awareness and funds for PACE Center for Girls of Marion County. In order to do so, Alice Cannon, a junior at Forest High School and special events volunteer with PACE has committed to wearing the same dress, her “uniform,” every school day during the 2011-2012 school year.

Just as each girl is equal, each is also unique. Similarly, the Little Black Dress is the same each day, but is transformed into its own unique outfit each day.

AND, while wearing the same dress everyday may seem like a limitation, it can really be seen as a creative opportunity. It’s an opportunity to unleash creativity rather than restrict it.

AND, part of what PACE Center for Girls does for its students is remove the limits of their life situations and allow them to unleash their unique gifts. PACE provides a safe, nurturing place to find hope.

PACE Center for Girls has a set of Values and Guiding Principles that should be part of every girl and woman’s basic wardrobe. Part of everyone’s “Little Black Dress.”

Individuals, families or businesses can sponsor one day of Uniform Project Ocala for just $10.
