Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz Visits Pace Broward During the Week of International Day of the Girl
Pace Center for Girls, Broward recognized Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her steadfast support of Pace’s mission to provide girls and young women an opportunity to thrive.
During the visit, a ceremonial check was presented by Wasserman to support the expansion of Pace Reach Teletherapy, a project boosted by $500,000 in federal funding. The expansion will eliminate barriers to access and allow for virtual therapeutic counseling services for girls and young women. Pace’s goal is to ensure transportation and finances don’t become a barrier to providing the services that girls need.
“Congresswoman Wasserman Shultz has made a tremendous impact at Pace, supporting and advocating for thousands of girls and young women throughout South Florida and beyond,” said Aggie Pappas, Vice President of Program Innovation and Strategic Implementation at Pace. “We are grateful for her shared commitment to eliminate barriers to access behavioral health services and empower our next generation of young women.”
Recognizing the unique experiences and needs of adolescent girls and young women, Pace Broward established the flagship Pace Reach Counseling Center (Pace Reach) in 2009. Since its inception, the Broward Pace Reach program has offered individual, family and group counseling services, case management, life coaching and diversion/civil citation services to over 3,000 girls.
“Now more than ever young people in the state are experiencing mental health concerns, often affecting their ability to learn and grow,” said Wasserman. “I’m proud to support Pace in their commitment to provide equitable opportunities to all girls.”
